Vendors
In order to drive consistency, responsibility, quality, and transparency, we have a limited the number of distributors we use. Distributors are vendors that deliver products or services: a broadliner (such as Sysco), meat or seafood house, baker, or maintenance company, etc. There are four types of vendors:
1. Approved vendors
2. Approved exception vendors
3. Excluded categories – R&M, liquor, florists, party rental companies)
4. Unapproved (legacy, no request, no approval)
We realize that many of you have developed relationships with local vendors that deliver products you know well on a frequent basis. Change is inconvenient, we agree!
But we’re not a non-profit organization and our clients are telling us across the country that we have to lower our cost to serve. If individual units buy from unaffiliated local vendors deemed ‘unapproved exception vendors,’ we can’t use your purchasing volume to drive lower prices for all. Please work to see the many benefits of using only approved vendors, minimize the number of approved exceptions, and bring your client along the path with us.
Please note:
· A vendor paid by A/P is NOT automatically an approved vendor or an approved exception vendor
· The expectation is that ALL purchases will be from 1, 2, and 3 categories by the end of 2019, and that
· Vendors aren't valued equally. Every unit is expected to maximize the amount of purchases made with Approved vendors (versus exceptions).
· Approved exception vendors must be able to limit sales to our units to the products you need them for (example: authentic Korean ingredients, but not to sell fish and paper goods also, or a snack and beverage supplier, but not to sell dairy, eggs, mozzarella, and mayo.
· Please email supply.chain@guckenheimer.com to apply for approved exception vendor
